Associate Medical Director-Hospitalist Service
General Summary
Supports the Medical Group's drive to ensure that care is of high quality and value and is integrated across the system. Provides leadership to Medical Group clinical improvement efforts to ensure the widespread deployment of evidence-based practice for safe, effective, equitable, patient-centered and efficient care. Supports safety initiatives and continuous quality improvement through innovative, patient-centered approaches to care, reducing variation to ensure a consistent standard of excellence is demonstrated throughout the Medical Group. Improves Physician/Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) alignment with organizational mission, values and objectives by supporting and leading Hospitalist Teams in clinical oversight/leadership of Medical Group practices. Builds local capacity to analyze, improve and maintain performance while also reducing variation.
WellSpan Health, a sophisticated medical community in south central Pennsylvania is seeking an Associate Medical Director to aid in leading the hospitalist program at WellSpan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. Our hospitalist team is a stable and respected group who pride themselves in fulfilling their mission to provide excellent inpatient care.
Expectations of Medical Director include:
- Ability to collaborate with physician, nursing and administrative leadership to support system objectives.
- Develop and implement quality improvement goals and objectives that align with WellSpan Health strategy.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for all members of the department.
- Develop and conduct annual performance evaluations for all clinicians.
- Lead the recruitment and retention of physicians and advanced practitioners.
- Participate as an active member of the WellSpan Hospitalist's Leadership Executive Committee
Candidates for this position:
- Must be Board Certified in Internal or Family Medicine and eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania.
- Should have a minimum of 5 years' experience as a hospitalist. Two years of experience in a leadership role is preferred.
- Should possess strong clinical, managerial and leadership skills including strong team-building skills and patient experience and cost-of-care emphasis .

QualificationsMinimum Education:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or
- Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required
Work Experience:
5 years Experience in healthcare. RequiredLicenses:
- Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
- Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
- Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required
Courses and Training:

- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, verbal and written skills, tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work effectively with senior leadership, physicians and other healthcare providers as well as multidisciplinary teams across department lines.
- Must possess strong project and change management skills, requires critical thinking, conceptual thinking and decision-making skills.
- Must possess knowledge of health care issues and process improvement concepts.
