Leave Replacement Middle and High School Spanish Teacher
York Prep School is seeking a Middle and High School Spanish Teacher leave replacement from January – April 13, 2026. They will be responsible for teaching up to four sections of Spanish in grades 6-12 and take on faculty duties as assigned. The Spanish Teacher will report to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Humanities and collaborate with the Department Chair as needed. This is a leave replacement position that would require availability Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, and Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
The Spanish Teacher is an educator who
- Demonstrates fluency in written and spoken Spanish, preferably a native speaker
- Has a passion for working with middle- and high school-aged students
- Applicants should demonstrate proficiency with current world language methodologies
- Familiarity with Comprehensible Input and SOMOS curriculum would be an asset
- Strong classroom management skills
- Has experience with differentiating instruction for diverse learners and helping them to reach their full potential
- Has knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning, including the use of educational technology and data to inform instruction
- Maintain detailed anecdotal and assessment records to produce accurate and comprehensive student reports on Canvas
- Exercises effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Has the ability to collaborate effectively
- Understands culturally responsive pedagogy
- Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Believes in the mission, values, and safeguarding policies of York Prep School
- Teach up to four sections of Spanish
- Develop curriculum that includes a balance of grammar and vocabulary studies, speaking practice, and cultural studies with connections to social justice and identity
- Assume faculty duties as assigned
- Participate in at least one aspect of student life at school i.e. facilitate a club, teach a Scholars class, serve as an advisor, coach a sport, etc.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish, Spanish Education, or a related field required
- Master’s Degree preferred
